It’s Monday already? Seems like the weekends should be longer. I’ve been fairly busy the past week which accounts for my lack of posting, yeah, that’s why. And, as has been my excuse in the past, I still don’t know what this blog should be about.
I’ve never been that good of a writer, so I guess I’ve just hoped I could learn if I write more often. But, for me, the lack of a subject makes writing very painful and feel more like work than anything else.
I could always talk computers or games or whatnot, but those subjects seem way overdone. Oh well, I’m sure it will come to me. For now, you all will just have to suffer. Heh, you all, who am I kidding. I took a 2 year break. No one is reading this anymore.

I must say WordPress has changed quite a bit in the 2 years I’ve been away from my blog. This has got to be one of the friendliest pieces of software I’ve used and am quite impressed.
I’ll be adding and removing probably several plugins and widgets over the next few days as I get a feel for this new version. I’ll also be consolidating some categories most likely and trying to go back and add some tags to posts.
I’ve added the reCaptcha plugin to comments and activated the newer Akismet spam protection plugin. This should help deter alot of those spam comments I’ve been getting over the past couple years. I just finished deleting over 85,000 comments. Ugh!

Wow has it really been that long since I posted last. Sorry about that. I’ve been so busy keeping up with a forum that I run. We had an explosion of traffic when the game it is based on added us to their fans page. So, needless to say, I’ve been a little pre-occupied with that. Well, I will make my best attempt to not continue to ignore this site, which I’m thinking needs a little re-design.
I’ve had this design for a while now and I think its time for something different. I don’t really have anything in mind though, I guess its time to start doing a little sketching to see what I can come up with.

Ok.. how much of a dork am I. I’ve entered my blog in a competition against other blogs. Why would I do this, you may ask. Well, please refer to the first sentence. Hey, I finally got a “Wordpress.com” blog. It is http://arandomact.wordpress.com. Nothing exciting going on there. I think I’m just going to put observations about wordpress there. The Wordpress.com interface is pretty cool.. it is a little different then the vanilla install of wordpress.org. I haven’t figured out how to put my own themes in there yet. But I would be surprised if it wasn’t possible.
Anyway.. just thought I would let you know. Check it out from time to time. Maybe it will get interesting.

So I just downloaded Qumana, a blog editor, to give it a try. I’ve tried similar tools in the past and have always gone back to just using the plain old Wordpress interface. But this tool looks interesting and a little better built. So here is my first post from it. Seems simple enough. Looking at the interface, it looks like there are more features than just simply typing up your post.. so I’ll have to explore those.
I’ll report on more features as I come across them. (P.S. Looks like it is pretty easy to add pictures to your post. That’s a bonus.)

Well I got my “Golden Ticket” yesterday to Wordpress.com. Now I need to come up with a catchy username since the address will be “<username>.wordpress.com”.
But an even bigger question is what will this blog be about. Everywhere I read, it is advised to stick to a single or small group of subjects because that tends to draw more visitors. But, as you may have figured out by reading this blog, I have trouble narrowing my focus to less than 20 categories, let alone a couple of subjects.
So as I have asked you for advice in the past, I once again and throwing it out there. What do you think my new Wordpress.com blog should be about?

Today is Blog Relief Day which is a drive for all bloggers to encourage their readers to donate to the relief efforts for those who were affected by Katrina.
The charity I chose is American Red Cross (1-800-HELP-NOW).
The American Red Cross has mobilized thousands of volunteers to respond in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The Red Cross plans to send close to 2,000 volunteers in the area to begin the initial response in the next few days.
