Lost Theories

The topic of Lost is starting to heat up with everyone coming up with there own theories as to what is going on. Jon over at chuggnutt.com just wrote a long post about what makes of what is going on in the show. From what I read, some of his ideas seem to make a lot of sense.

Its been a while since a show has captured my attention like this one. It makes you think. I find myself trying to come up with my own theories of whats happening. Is the island some big social experiment? Why was there a quarantine sticker on the inside of the hatch door? What are your theories?

  1. They’re all dead Catholics in purgatory. As soon as the person either figures out he/she is in purgatory OR completes his/her life inventory, he/she “dies” and goes to heaven or hell. Duh.

  2. I’ve heard the Purgatory theory. It’s clever, but I don’t think it’s accurate at all. Mostly because 1) they aren’t all Catholic and 2) people have died without “completing their life inventory.”

  3. My theory on the show is that it doesn’t really matter if it makes sense or has any particular meaning at all. But the thing that does matter is that it creates conversations like these, which create the desire to watch the program (and the associated commercials).

It’s almost like the opposite of Seinfeld, the show about nothing. This show is about everything mysterious and intangible.

  4. Actually, I don’t watch the show, so my “theory” is tOtally invalid. On another note, though, y’all should go see Serenity in the theaters.
