In lighter news today, I came across this amusing video on chugnutt.com. Leeroy Jenkins! is apparently a battle cry of some sort in World of Warcraft. In my game-playing I’ve never heard it before, but I find it very funny.
The video itself is a typical group of geeks gathered around in their virtual world preparing for a large battle, when one of them gets tired of waiting and attacks sending the entire group to their death. You may not understand everything that goes on, but you have to appreciate the supreme “geekness” that goes on here.

“Leeeroy Jenkins” became a battlecry because of this video. It was created in March sometime (maybe February) and posted on Blizzard’s boards. It was all the rage for a while. Eventually it was revealed that the whole thing was staged, but that doesn’t make it any less funny, really. Leroy Jenkins is the name of one of the players, the player who runs headlong into danger. He shouts his own name as a battlecry. The shout has now become synonymous with a foolhardy charge.
Came out in March, huh? I think I would’ve seen it before, then. Staged or not, it is some funny stuff.
