System Administrator Appreciation Day

System Administrator Appreciation Day Friday July 29th 2005

Good thing I took today off to have a garage sale. I’m kindof a SysAdmin, by default really, because no one else in my office wants the job. ;) Anyway, hats off to all SysAdmins out there, their jobs are harder than anyone gives them credit for. Imagine how hard it would be for you to sit on the net all day and get paid well.

Heh heh. Just kidding of course.

Thank you Globeandmail.com for that insight. I got a chuckle out of this article.

So I started the Windows Vista download yesterday afternoon and it is still going. I thought that if I left it overnight it would be done this morning, but, alas, I was wrong. It seems that there was a connection interruption, so it was waiting for me to resume the download after only 300MB of the 2.5GB was done. Oh well, good thing bandwidth is cheap right? Well at least at work it is. :) (Oh Chris, settle down, I’m just kidding)

My junk is Your junk

So tomorrow I’m having a garage sale. Well, actually it is a drive-way sale since my Mustang is in the garage up on jack stands right now. Anyone need any cool stuff like a table and chairs with a matching china cabinet? or a microwave cart? or my old clothes? :) Come on, I know you want my old clothes.

Anyway, so tonight should be filled with the fun of digging through all of this stuff and pricing it. I think I’ll be taking the day off tomorrow to help my wife out also. So if you’re in the neighborhood and you’ve been jonesin’ for some premo, recycled goods, stop buy and take home a car load.

Looks like the Salem/Keizer area is in for a hot day today. According to Weather.com we are expected to reach 99° F this afternoon. It seems like just a week ago I was wondering where are summer was. As it turns out, it is this week.

Have fun and keep cool.

Google AdSense

July 26th, 2005

I’m going to give Google AdSense a shot. Not that I need to make any moola off of any of my readers (nor do I expect to), but I thought there was such a buzz about it lately, I would throw it on here and see what sticks. I guarantee I’ll play around with the placement a bit so don’t expect the ads to always show up in the same place twice. Hopefully they won’t be to bothersome… and maybe you can click on a couple here and there if anything grabs your fancy. ;)

Book Quiz

You’re Prufrock and Other Observations!
by T.S. Eliot
Though you are very short and often overshadowed, your voice is poetic
and lyrical. Dark and brooding, you see the world as a hopeless effort of people trying
to impress other people. Though you make reference to almost everything, you’ve really
heard enough about Michelangelo. You measure out your life with coffee spoons.

Do you remeber those days when you were doing a powerslide down the road on your big wheel? Well those days are back thanks to ADULT SIZE Big Wheels. If I could only justify the expense. These guys are a bit out there for price, but they certainly look cool.

Didja miss me? Didn’t think so. Judging by the number of comments I’ve received in the past week, I think I may be the first visitor back since I left.

Anyway, to sum everything up: New Orleans is HOT. Not hot as in cool, but hot as in temperature.

We took over 200 pics that I have uploaded to my gallery for all to enjoy. The only problem is when the thumbnails were created, a bunch of color was lost. So I’ll have to look into that problem. If you view the full image though, you should see everything in full color (but the pic is huge then).
