Importing from MovableType

Well importing from MovableType was about as easy as it gets. Simply export from MT, upload the file to a WordPress accessible directory and modify the “import-mt.php” file. Then run.

Voila!! I now have hundreds of posts in WordPress.

Most impressive.

Next thing to accomplish…. skinning this bad boy. :)

Trying out WordPress

I’m gonna try out WordPress just to say I’ve tried more than one blogging tool. Who knows I may like it and switch permanently. The fact that it is php-based is very attractive since I know php and don’t know Perl, which MovableType is written in. Plus, it is a lot faster because it renders the pages on the fly rather than generating static html pages.

So long story short, my WordPress site is http://wordpress.arandomact.com. I haven’t spruced it up yet. It is just using the default theme that WordPress comes with. That will most likely change soon.

So, be looking forward to some update posts about my experiences and who knows, maybe the next time you visit A Random Act of Blogging, it may be powered by WordPress.

Trying out Word Press

Well, we’re going to give it a shot. Why? Just because I guess. MovableType has been good to me. But I’m feeling like I need a change. Will this be the change I need? Who knows. But I’m going to give it a go anyway.
