New Toy

I’m not sure if I’m reverting back to my childhood or what but I am getting ready to order one of these from a co-worker of mine. I mean… who wouldn’t want a remote control helicopter? Last week I bought a Tyco Stunster which is a pretty cool little toy. Of course, my kids like it also. Here are some pics of my new found fun.

Holiday Time

Geez, is it just me or does it seem to early for it to be Thanksgiving next week. The last few months have flown by. I don’t know if I am ready for the garbage that goes along with the holidays. I already had a taste of it on Sunday. My wife and I were trying to get out of a store’s parking lot, when this bastard decided to wait in the middle of the road for a parking spot. Now I am all for getting the closest spot possible, when it is available. But is it necessary to hold up 4-5 cars of traffic for one lousy parking spot. The spot wasn’t even that good. Even worse, the lady currently residing in the parking spot was not even in her car… in fact she was getting in and out. Who knows what she was actually doing.

So after a bit of waiting, my wife decided to honk her horn, most people waiting for that long would have done it, and I am positive this jackass would have honked as well had the roles been reversed. Anyway, this guy, after being honked at, opens his door and flips my wife the bird. It was at that moment I recognized that it was the Holiday Shopping Season. Well long story short….. (or is it already too long to call short?)….. I am no fan of this time of year when it comes to going out of my house. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy all the family and what not, but I would rather get a root canal then go out in this mad-shopping mess.

Anyway there is my rant for the day.

Killer Bug Mod

I was cruising around Slashdot this morning and found this awesome mod. I wish I had the time to do something like this…. boy was that a geek thing to say or what.

A Warning to Spammers

Good morning,

You may not know me. I’m the little guy. You could see me on the street and not even see me. I might even be the guy who asked you what time it was when you were in line to see Matrix: Revolutions. I don’t really matter much to you, or so I thought.

You see, until recently I was a fairly peaceful blogger. What’s that? You don’t know what bloggers are? Well, I keep a running tally of stuff I do online on my website. It just so happens that Google likes us bloggers. A lot.

So, maybe I’m not such a little guy. Because, you see, I’ve realised who you are. You, my friend, are a spammer. A rather ingenious one, but a spammer nonetheless. You, it seems, have realised the power that bloggers have on Google. So, you’ve decided to take advantage of that power for your own benefit.

Sit down and let me educate you. No more. There are more than one million of us. Sure, we’re all little guys, but it’s amazing how creatively powerful we can be.

So, hopefully this finds you quickly. Very quickly. Because there is a stir happening among us bloggers to not just start blocking your spam, but to start taking rather serious action against you and people like you.

Let me tell you what will happen, just so you are aware:

1. First, we will start blocking your spam more actively
This is meant to increase our knowledge of your activities.

2. We will be posting ‘comment instructions’ which define the legality of posting comments on our sites
This is meant to remove any plea for innocence you might have.

3. We will begin to track you down and contacting your ISP’s, hosting companies, domain registration companies and the affiliate programs you are privy to and shutting these down one by one
This is meant to make you aware of what we are capable of and to give you a chance to quit while you are still ahead.

4. We will begin keeping centralized records of all spam in a central location
This is meant to get a 360 degree view of what you are doing.

5. We will automate and then detonate. Removing the need for us to interfere manually with the process will let us shut you down faster than you can re-register domains and affiliate programs
This is meant to help us sleep at night.

So, you see, this is not a haphazard attempt to change the world. We just want our blogs back. You now have two options. Either you can stop now and find a legitimate online business like selling panties on EBay or we can take it to it’s inevitable conclusion.

The choice is yours. Choose well grasshopper.

Good luck,

A little blogger

The funny thing is… I just had to delete a few comments today that I believe was from a spammer. Then I read this over at ensight. I will do my part and get the word out. Believe me, I won’t tolerate spam either, I will block any IP that I believe to be spam. Please pass this letter on.
